I'm looking for a family doctor. How should I proceed ?
Our doctors are not accepting new patients.
To find a family doctor, a nurse practitioner specializing in primary care (IPSPL), or a group of doctors accepting new patients, you can register on the waiting list of the Family Doctor Finder (GAMF).
Attention! The waiting time varies according to the availability of doctors and the number of people without a family doctor in your region. As soon as a doctor is assigned to you, they will contact you.
The registration conditions are:
Not being registered with a family doctor or a nurse practitioner specializing in primary care;
Holding a valid health insurance card;
Residing in Quebec;
Living at the address currently indicated in your file with the Régie. You can change your address online through the Quebec Address Change Service;
Not residing in the Nunavik or James Bay Cree Territory regions, as doctors in these regions cannot register patients. If you live there, please contact your local health center (Nunavik: 819-964-2905; James Bay Cree Territory: 819-855-2744);
Being 14 years of age or older. A person meeting this condition can register someone under 14 years old or someone who cannot or prefers not to register themselves.
I need to renew my medication. How should I proceed ?
Pharmacists are authorized to extend your regular medications for a period of up to one year. If there are changes in your health condition requiring an adjustment to your treatment, it is important to discuss this with your pharmacist. If a medical consultation is necessary, please schedule an appointment in advance, as doctors' schedules fill up quickly.
Please note that it is your responsibility to ensure you have sufficient renewals. A last-minute renewal request will not be considered an emergency.
Do you offer blood tests or PAP smears? How does it work?
Yes, we offer blood tests and PAP smears, but only by appointment.
It is important to note that there may be fees associated with these services.
To make an appointment or for any additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
What should I do if my doctor is absent (maternity, illness)?
Doctors who have to be temporarily absent are not replaced. However, all test results received (blood test, imaging) are verified by colleagues.
If you need to consult and your doctor is not available, use the walk-in clinic. The doctor will have access to your medical records.
Your pharmacist can prescribe certain medications for a minor health problem or as a preventative measure, he can extend a prescription and adjust your treatments according to certain criteria. Don’t hesitate to ask your pharmacist what they can do to help you.
You can access your laboratory results on the Carnet santé Québec website.
What should I do if my health insurance card has expired?
Expired RAMQ card: If your RAMQ card has expired, you must contact RAMQ at 514-864-3411 to obtain a temporary number and fax the document to us at 514-769-9008 before the consultation. Please note that there might be some delay before we receive it.
For patients without a valid or temporary health insurance card, fees may apply.
Can I get vaccinated at the clinic?
We do not offer vaccinations for children, nor those for Covid-19, nor vaccinations for travelers.
In the fall, the clinic offers seasonal flu vaccination appointments for registered patients only.

Teleconsultations
In accordance with the most recent directives, consultations are mainly done face-to-face (in person).
In certain special cases, the doctor can offer a telephone consultation to a patient he already knows, for the follow-up of a chronic problem (e.g. diabetes or high blood pressure).
Patients who do not see their family doctor and patients who have a new health problem should be assessed in person.
I missed the doctor's call, will he call me back?
Yes, the doctor will generally try to call you a second time.
If he still cannot reach you after two calls, he will consider that you missed your appointment. In that case, you will need to schedule a new appointment.
My appointment time has passed and I still haven't seen the doctor (or received a call). Is this normal?
We do our best to respect appointment times. However, it is common for an appointment to take longer than expected and delay other appointments of the day. Be patient. There is no point in asking secretaries what time you will actually see the doctor.
How do I prepare for my medical visit with my family doctor?
If this is a first appointment, be sure to note your various health problems (e.g. asthma, heart problem, etc.) as well as the tests you have had in recent years.
During a follow-up appointment with your family doctor, make a list of the problems you want to discuss with the doctor and mention this list at the start of the consultation. As the consultations have a limited duration, the doctor will be able to judge which problems are priority.
Have an up-to-date list of your medications. Check in advance if certain medications need to be refilled.
How do I get my exam results?
By registering with the Carnet Santé Québec, you will have access to the reports of your medical imaging examinations, as well as to your results of blood tests, urine tests and other samples.
